we can HEAL.

INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES & Family Therapy

About Me

Katie is a self-described ‘eclectic therapist’. She sees the world differently and embraces her role as a pathfinder to gently guide others who also view life through a unique lens. Different is good. Different is special. Different is a gift! Katie empowers her clients to embrace what makes them one-of-a-kind. She is a great believer in self-compassion and being kind to yourself.

In this challenging world, we must first embrace ourselves and find a place of strength before we can share our gifts with others. The practice of self-compassion can make all the difference in the world. To truly accept oneself is critical as we navigate through this journey of life. Katie provides her clients with guidance and support to discover this joy of self and to eventually set off into the world, armed with confidence and self-love.

Katie utilizes many creative techniques in her practice. Mindfulness is key as she supports each client in being in the present moment. It’s more difficult than it sounds! Katie skillfully guides her clients to focus on the here and now, while letting go of all the should”s and should-haves and could-have and what-ifs. The goal is to release judgement. Katie provides the necessary tools with empathy and understanding.

One of the approaches is Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR). She received this training in 2022 through the Laurel Parnell Institute. She also combines Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. This exciting new form of therapy steers clients towards focusing on their values and clearly identifying their purpose in life. It’s truly enlightening! The client learns to live their life with purpose, rather than allowing themselves to get distracted. They learn to highlight their goals without getting sidetracked by little things, like negative thoughts, that may annoy them or even stop them in their tracks. Priority takes over rather than distraction. Clients learn to let go of the unnecessary so they may find clarity and thrive.

Like Michelangelo's David as how he created his masterpiece, he said, “I chipped away at everything that was not David.”

I believe in The ProCESS. I Believe in you.
